Our Story
Every parent’s dream is to be able to give their son or daughter the best birthday party. This was no different for me and like many 5 year-old girls, my daughter wanted a princess themed celebration.
It has always been extremely important for my daughter to see a representation of her ethnicity in the books she reads, the movies she watches and the toys she plays with. Therefore, when planning her 5th birthday I was determined that one of the princesses of colour would be the surprise guest. I spent weeks looking for an authentic princess character. It was important to me to find a princess whose vocal and acting skills were of a high standard, but was disappointed with the lack of true diversity and the quality of singing.
Out of my frustration the journey of ‘A Princess like me’ began.
One of my greatest passions is music and I have built a career as a vocal coach and session singer over the last 19 years. It has been my absolute pleasure to hand pick every princess based on their exceptional vocal ability- so therefore we pride ourselves on outstanding performances by professional singers who have also been trained in musical theatre.
